Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQs)
Can I make .pdf files of the reports?
Yes. There is a free program that you can download and install on your own PC so that anything you can print, you can instead choose to make a .pdf file. Go to http://www.primopdf.com/ and download and install their free Primopdf pdf file creating software. After installation, any thing that you can print can be made instantly into a .pdf file that you can use or send to others including any of the reports. After installation when you try to print you will see your printer as well as PrimoPDF as a printer choice. If you choose PrimoPDF it will create a pdf file.
How do I make backups for our youth?
See how to install (free) Primopdf software above. Primopdf also provides an easy way to make usable backups of your data whenever you choose. Lets say you want to backup all your scouting advancement for each boy. Making PDFs for your own backups is as easy as printing the Letter Report after checking each of the units. You simply choose the PromoPDF printer choice instead of your normal printer and .... it creates the PDF file with all your boys information. It is really easy. You can store it anywhere i.e. on a CD or your Hard Drive.
Then if a person leaves and requests his/her information, you can go back to one of your backups, copy that portion and send it. You can do this for any of the data you want to backup however often you choose.
How do I print background colors and pictures
The ability to print background colors and pictures is a setting in your Internet software. For Internet Explorer: click Tools, Internet Options, "Advanced" tab, Under Printing check "Print background colors and images."
When printing reports I get header and footer
'weird stuff' on each page such as "Main Letter Report
Page 1 of 1" and the web site and date across the bottom. What
am I doing wrong?
This is caused by a setting in your browser.
For example if you are using Internet Explorer, you
can stop the headers and footers from displaying by doing the following
(with the browser
open):
- At the top, click on File, then Page Setup. (if you cannot see "File" then click on Tools, Menu Bar, then File)
- Next delete any characters in the Headers and Footers sections
- Click OK to accept changes.
- Now when you print you will have a nice clean report.
However, a better way may be to just temporarily stop Internet Explorer headers and footers from showing up on the report by (open IE):
- After running the report in EagleQuestPro so it shows on the screen... click anywhere in the report frame you want to print so it knows to print that report frame and not the menu or top picture in EagleQuestPro.
- Near the top, click the down arrow just to the right of the printer icon, then click Print Preview.
- In the Print Preview screen click the 5th icon from the top left that turns the Headers and Footers on or off -- just for the current print job.
- Click the printer icon on the left to print your report.
Do you have a way to E-Mail progress reports to parents?
Yes, Duty to God, Scouting Progress and the young women's Personal Progress can be sent to Parents E-Mail
addresses automatically with a click of the button. You can also send your Calendar of Events or
notes to parents as often as you like.
If I buy Eagle Quest Pro, will I get
any free updates to program?
No need for Updates. If requirements change,
the change is made for everyone that logs in.
The first report called Letter/Report doesn't
contain page breaks. Can you make it so the page
breaks after each young man's report?
Works correctly if you are using a recent
version of a browser. Internet Explorer version 6 recognizes
style sheets with page breaks.
What security do you have for the data?
access is secured by insuring that EVERY
page (past the login page) is controlled by a
governing
page that
requires the person to have completed a successful
login with an encrypted password (special,
secured, characters). If a person tries
to get to any page without going
through the login procedure, it won't permit the page
to load and immediately kicks the person back to the
login screen. The data is hidden on
a secure server . Any program source code
that a user may see, does not access the data directly
(which is hidden on the secure server).
All money transactions on my site are secured by
Verisign through EBAY's PAY PAL transaction software.
What database is associated with this site?
The database is the multithreaded, multi user, very
fast MySQL database.
