Body: George U. Briggs signs his name on several papers as he tries to apply for ownership in Box Elder County, Utah under the Homestead Act. See attachments.
He says that "I and my family now reside on the land I desire to enter and that I have bonafied improvements and settlement thereon, that said improvements consists of a house yards out houses and stables and 40 acres plowed land, and farm ernable(?) to appear at the district land office to make this affidivit and that I never have before made a homestead entry". Sworn and signed 15 Oct 1881 by George U. Briggs.
He also adds: " and I also hereby Cerify that the Probate Judge was absent at the date hereof".
Also it appears that George U. Briggs also married Ann Patton. |
